Innovating with the FCA, Monday 23 June, Catalyst, Belfast

In case you missed our in-person event ‘Innovating with the Financial Conduct Authority’ event on 23rd June.
After a brief intro from Natasha O’Hea, Catalyst, on the RegTech SuperCluster we invited Sebastian Ricketts, Innovation Manager, FCA to take us through the FCA Innovation Services.

Sebastian described the 2025-2030 five year strategy and the FCA goals to be a smarter regulator, support growth, help consumers and fight crime.  Sebastian explained how the FCA supports the full innovation lifecycle from idea generation and development, to prototyping and on to production.   The FCA offer a range of services including the Digital Sandbox, Regulatory Sandbox and Innovation Pathways to help firms develop, test and launch innovative products and services.   Their Digital Sandbox provides a safe environment for firms to test new ideas and technologies using synthetic data.

The Regulatory Sandbox allow firms with a MVP to test innovative products and services with real consumers in a live market environment.  Sebastian took us through the Innovation Pathways which offer tailored support, mentoring  and guidance to firms at all stages of development and from any sector.  The new AI Lab provides a pathway for the FCA, firms and wider stakeholders to engage on new AI models and solutions.

The overall message was for firms to engage with the FCA Innovation Service, it’s there to help firms navigate their way through regulations so they can flourish and grow

The audience then had the opportunity to engage directly with Sebastian in the Q&A session and NI firms which have engaged with the FCA Innovation Service shared their experiences.
